The pain that headache and migraine sufferers endure can impact every aspect of their lives.

There are two types of headaches: primary headaches and secondary headaches. Examples of primary headaches are migraine headaches, tension headaches, and cluster headaches. Secondary headaches are caused by associated diseases such as brain tumors, strokes, meningitis, subarachnoid hemorrhages, caffeine withdrawal, or discontinuation of analgesics. 

Acupuncture is very effective to treat primary headaches without side effects and it is also good in providing relief from secondary headaches.

According to the Chinese Medicine theory, a lot of channel are meething on the head. Before we have treatment plan, we haveto determine which meridians and internasl organ are affected according to the special symptoms of each patients. During acupuncture treatments for headache,we may place needle on head, legs, arms and perhaps even you big toe! When the whole channels are unblocked and Qi is moving freely, pain will be relived. 

• 401 patients, mostly suffering from migraine headaches were entered into a randomized, placebo-controlled study. The study concluded that acupuncture not only improved migraine symptoms across several criteria, but also presented a cost-effective alternative to traditional treatments. (more)
• 91 patients suffering from migraine headaches or tension headaches in Germany were divided into two groups. One group was given Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) over 4 weeks and another continued on their previous headache treatments.The group that was given TCM had, on average, 51% fewer headaches, which was significantly better than the group that did not receive TCM. • A recent review published by the Cochrane Collaboration looked at the literature on acupuncture for tension headaches and analyzed the findings from 11 randomized trials with 2,317 participants that compared acupuncture with a control or with sham acupuncture. The researchers concluded that acupuncture could be a valuable option for patients suffering from frequent tension headaches. (more)
